EMDR Intensives

Healing isn’t linear, but it is possible.

Sometimes weekly therapy isn’t enough.

You've been doing the work.

But you're still feeling stuck, like something won't move.

Or maybe you're going through something big and need support now, not spread across six months.

That's where EMDR Intensives come in.

They're a way to go deeper, quicker, without rushing your healing.

What is an EMDR Intensive?

An EMDR Intensive is a longer-format therapy session designed to help you process trauma, break through stuck patterns, and access relief more quickly than traditional weekly therapy.

Instead of waiting a week between sessions, you get a concentrated block of time to stay in the work, stay in the flow, and create meaningful shifts.

It's like setting aside a whole day to finally exhale and do the inner work your nervous system has been asking for.

Who is this for?

EMDR Intensives can be a good fit if you:

  • Feel like weekly therapy isn't going deep enough

  • Want to jump-start your healing process

  • Are managing a recent trauma or crisis

  • Have limited time or availability for ongoing sessions

  • Are preparing for a major life event (surgery, transition, etc)

  • Feel stuck in long-term patterns and want focused support

You don't need to be in "crisis mode" to benefit from an Intensive. You just need to be ready to create space for yourself and your healing.

What it looks like

EMDR Intensives are tailored to you and your needs.

They may include:

  • A 90–180-minute extended session (half-day or full-day options)

  • Grounding and resourcing exercises

  • Focused EMDR reprocessing

  • Integration and aftercare planning

  • Follow-up support to help you apply what came up

You're never pushed past your capacity. We move at your pace, with support and consent every step of the way.

Still not sure if an EMDR Intensive is right for you?

Read through our frequently asked questions to see if the answer to your question is below. If not, contact us, we are happy to answer your questions.

  • I've never been to therapy before, what's it like?
During the first session, you and your clinician complete a full assessment of why you're coming to therapy and an overall history. From there, you will decide on two to three targeted goals to improve depression, anxiety, relationships, etc. Sometimes during sessions, we may practice concrete skills while at other times we may have in-depth conversations about what you're experiencing emotionally. Your clinician uses your feedback to modify interventions based on where you are at in your unique healing journey.
  • Will you work with people who have any kind of mental health issue?
Our staff work most effectively with people experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, trauma recovery, depression, and hypomania. Our team also works well with people who have co-occurring medical health concerns, want to integrate spirituality into therapy, or are part of the LGBTQQIA community. If you have had substance use or eating disorders, we will be able to work with you if you've had at least 3-4 months of sustained recovery. For people who utilize crisis services and inpatient hospitalizations regularly, the Practice Owner recommends working with a larger therapeutic services agency. In couple's therapy, we do not provide services if one or both members of the couple are physically assaultive to the other partner. We are happy to provide referrals to other programs and therapists if we are not a good fit.
  • Why is the practice only telehealth?
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, practice owner, Lindsay Boudreau created a telehealth practice. Throughout the first year, Lindsay recognized that many clients were from locations in the state that would make it difficult for in-person appointments. In addition, her local clients stated that they felt more comfortable in their own surroundings and greater scheduling flexibility to meet while at work or home. Based on these findings, Lindsay made the decision to be a telehealth practice regardless of pandemic conditions. Telehealth services are completed on a HIPAA compliant platform to ensure security. Limited in person referrals are available if you are solely looking for in-person therapy.
  • I live outside of Massachusetts. Are you able to work with me?
We generally cannot provide telehealth services for people living in another state. In addition, if you are out of state on vacation or for school, we are unable to provide services. Two clinicians, Lindsay Boudreau and Ariana Flanagan, have dual licensure in Rhode Island but our other clinicians are Massachusetts-only based. Please use Therapy Den, Unmute, Psychology Today, or Thriving Campus for out of state therapy services.
  • Do you take insurance?
Yes, we take Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts (includes Commercial, MassHealth and ConnectorCare), United Healthcare, Optum, Mass General Brigham Partnership, Mass General Brigham ACO, Wellsense (Commercial and MassHealth), Fallon (Commercial and MassHealth), Revere, MBHP, BeHealthy Partnership. Not every clinician takes each insurance panel yet, due to the credentialing process. If you go to About Us and click on each clinician's profile, you can read about what insurances they currently accept. Our practice owner Lindsay Boudreau is the only provider who takes Health New England due to telehealth provider restrictions.
  • You do not currently take my insurance, but I still want to work with you. What options are available?
The practice no longer is able to support sliding scale clients except for limited slots through Open Path Collective. If you have commercial insurance and are able to pay the full rates, we will give you a superbill for each session for partial (but not guaranteed) reimbursement. The fee is charged after each session. Please check your plan's out-of-network benefits. If you have a MassHealth plan and do not have Tufts, Mass General Brigham ACO, Wellsense, Fallon, Revere, MBHP, C3, BeHealthy Partnership, we cannot work with you at Elemental Intuition due to insurance contract regulations. We have referral options available to help, as we know how hard it has been to wait for care!
  • What is your cancellation policy?
To avoid the cancellation fee, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance. If you cancel with less than 24 hours or do not show up for the appointment, and it is not an unforeseeable emergency (e.g. illness, accident), you will be charged $100 to the credit card on file. HSA/FSA cards and insurance cannot be used to bill for these missed appointments. Clients on MassHealth plans cannot be charged the fee. If you have 3 late cancellations or no-shows, you and your therapist will need to discuss whether you can continue working together. After the fourth no show or late cancel, we will terminate sessions. You are welcome to return to the practice at a later date if you can commit to sessions, but we cannot guarantee availability with your original clinician.
  • I want to start couple's therapy. Will my insurance cover services?
Insurances generally do not cover couple's therapy unless the primary insured person has a diagnosable mental health condition that couple's therapy could be beneficial in treating. Please contact your insurance to review benefits for CPT codes 90846 and 90847. We currently have one couples therapist, Debra Lucey-Maynard LICSW, and she has openings.
  • Do you accept MassHealth (Medicaid)? Do you see teenagers on MassHealth?
We accept many of the MassHealth plans that go through an ACO or MCO. We are unable to work with anyone who only has MassHealth Standard or Health Safety Net. Due to additional certification requirements, we are only able to work with adults 21+ who are on a MassHealth Plan.
  • Do you work with kids and teenagers?
As our practice is fully telehealth, we will work with teenagers who are 15 and older. Not all of our clinicians work with teenagers, so please review the therapist's page for their age limitations. We cannot see people under 21 on MassHealth.

You don't have to stretch out your healing.

Sometimes, change doesn’t need more time. It just needs more space.

Let’s create that space together.

We’ll talk through whether an EMDR Intensive is right for you, and what it could look like for your needs.

Thank you for your message. We'll respond shortly.
